Overall: We got our second black labrador at the San Diego Humane Society. It is really sad, and you want to take all of the dogs home. The dog we chose was really sick and although the contract said that they would provide additional health services if the dog was sick, they did not honor this contract. We kept thedog anyway because he fit well with our family and brought him back to health. They seem to treat the animals well but I question how good their vets are. And, I wonder whereall the money they get goes. Maybe to pay for their expensive facilties and not for healthcare of the animals. We had to pay $500 because PirateDoogie is a purebred lab and he was a puppy (6 mos old). We got one free training class.

Value: I would say that I would explore all my options prior to adopting from here. The Baja Sanctuary rescue may be a better choice.

Service: The service waspoor. The staff was evasive and kind of rude.

Quality: The dog is wonderful, but he was sick when we got him and they Humane society would not honor their own contract.

Pros: It is always wonderful to adopt a rescue dog

Cons: the Humane Society charges too much and does not honor their own contract. I will recommend because I do not want to discourage dog adoptions.

Price Range: $300 - $500
