Simply Great Selection by Tsuyoshi I. at InsiderPages
These days great selection is something hard to come by. People may get used to online shopping, but being able to physically see what you are getting is totally different experience.

Their stationary are pretty great: from organizers to portfolio cases. I come here for just to look what they have when I come to NY.

Bad Customer Service. Nasty attitude
Nice products but very poor customer service. We were customers for several years.
We tried to return a bag in impecable conditions and found out that those items were non returnable. It doesn't state on the bags displays and we were not informed when we purchased it. We found out that the store states it on the back of the receipt. Careful when you buy it on the internet because I could not find a easy visible spot with that return policy either.
The managers were very arrogant and nasty in their answers.
When we told him that with that attitud, they would loose us as customer his response was simply, "Fine, do whatever you need to do."
We contacted the owner regarding this behavior and he didn't take any responsability. He just didn't care.

forget OfficeMax. ignore Staples. by Marty M. at InsiderPages
Even if you are not a FREAK for office supplies, stationery, and all things color-coded, this store is still a playground. File folders never looked so good. Every color, texture, shape imaginable; plus picture frames, cute little gifty items, business card holders its overwhelming! And, of course, pricey. But their sales are great; when I stopped by, many items were half off, making the Italian refillable journal I bought just $10. Which almost made up for the $25 I spent on adorable thank-you notes.

PROS: they have EVERYTHING. and it's all gorgeous.
CONS: it's expensive.

Large selection of office supplies. by Kevin C. at InsiderPages
Sam Flax has a good selection of office supplies, including chairs, tables, lamps, and regular stationary. Most of the things they carry are also designer and of better quality than other office supply stores. It costs a little more but still a good price for what you're getting, which is good quality, good looking stuff. They also have some cool little gadgets and things, mostly stuff that you would just put on your desk at work to keep you entertained throughout the day.

Art Supplies by Vincent P. at InsiderPages
Sam Flax has 3 or 4 locations in Manhattan so it easy fairly easy to bump into one. They all seem about the same a so so selection of art supplies, a nice selction of chairs for offices and lots of frames and stationary. I'm not sure if it is me or them but I don't find them as impressive as I did 20 years ago. You'll do much better going to Pearl Paint if you need art supplies and every neighborhood in Manhattan now seems to have a bunch of better than average stationary stores.

PROS: A lot of merchandise in one place
CONS: pricey others do it better
