After moving from LA, I was having a very difficult time finding a salon to meet my standards for color and creative cuts. After trying a dozen salons in the Chicago area, I read the reviews on Salon de Vive and decided to give this salon a whirl. During my initial meeting with Vi, she took her time in asking me a lot of questions about my hair, previous cuts, and the over all look I was going for. She was confident in giving her opinion and ideas when I asked. I asked her to cut my very long red hair off and to take it back to a vibrant blonde. WOW!!! I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks-which is the feeling that I was used to having with my old salon in LA. What a relief to find her! My haircut was like artwork and I am once again getting compliments from random people on the streets...asking where I get my hair done. The color is vibrant and lasts months....it never dulls and when the cut grows out, it still has an amazing shape. I drive 1 1/2 hours in traffic to get my hair done now, but it is so worth the time and money to have it done right the first time! The only drawback is the lack of parking.

I have been going to Vi for more years than I can remember. She is an absolute artist with color. Really listens, understands your "issues" and always has great suggestions. The salon is beautiful and very comfortable. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend to everyone. Enjoy!

Violica is the best. Always smiling and happy. Puts you in a good mood. Great atmosphere and pleasant employees. I've been to other cutters(out of necessity) and no one cuts like Violica. Keep up the good work.

On my list of things to do once in my life was have the courage to wear a pixie cut. That was no small feat considering that in 43 years I never had my hair above my chin and, at the time of my cut, my ponytail alone was 13" long. I approached it like I do most tasks - researched first. Found photos and read articles about facial features and short hair. After reading reviews for many stylists I wandered in to Salon de Vive. I had walked out of at least one salon where no enthusiasm for the task at hand was shown. Not so in Salon de Vive.
Emmett warmly greeted me and sat me down to talk. It was immediately clear to me that he knew his stuff. I know my hair, which is thick and curly but also dries straight very well. Emmett seemed instinctively to know my hair as well. But more, he cared about why I was doing it, who I was, whether I was sure, and if the style would suit my head and face. That day he gave me a fabulous cut AND took time to explain how to work it.
A couple days later when I had concerns over a color I applied myself (calling in a panic) he took the time to call me back and talk me down. I am having immense fun with my re-invented look, due, in no small part, to Emmett. And the price - you wont find better in Chicago for what you get.

I found this salon to be a trendy and quaint little surprise. The atmosphere was elegant, but relaxing and comfortable. The hair stylists were very knowledgeable and talented. Yes I recommend this salon.
