Desperate buyers beware. Non-desperate buyers ? don?t bother.
I needed my carpets cleaned in one room of my condo on short notice, on a Saturday. The immediate availability of this business was a red flag, but my condo is local to SD and I am local to LA, so I hoped for the best. While on the phone with the ?owner?, I explained precisely what I needed cleaned: a 15?x16? living room; a rug that was at most 5?x8? (turns out it was only 4?x6?); and possible a cream loveseat, if he thought he would be able to get the dirt out of it without permanently discoloring it like the result of another company?s attempt to clean it. So, I was quoted on the phone $45 for the 15?x16? room; $20 for the 5?x8? area rug; and $45 if I chose to have the loveseat done. I agreed to have him come out.
He arrived, came into the condo and all the prices changed. The loveseat was now $65, the area rug $25 and the loveseat $65. You can imagine my delight, especially since there was no reason given (ie you?re carpets are disgusting?this is going to cost more ... they aren?t and it shouldn't have) and had given him EXACT dimensions of the areas to be cleaned. Under normal circumstances, I would tell Mr. to pack up and get out, but like I said, I was in a jam and needed this done immediately. So I agreed to the inflated prices. DUMB.
He did not rinse the soap out of the carpet and it stayed wet (then damp) for at least the next 36 hours ? I couldn?t stay to see if it ever dried-had to get back to work in LA- I'm hoping not to find mold on my next visit. The area rug was left to dry on a railing outside. When I tried to bring it in, I was able to literally ring water out of the 3/4? thick rug.
I called the next morning to allow him the opportunity to fix the problem-he couldn't come right away - he was in Tijuana - his solution was to come by Monday to put a fan on the carpet for a while. I couldn't understand how a fan would fix the poor rinse job and he couldn't explaint it either - I will instead pay to have a reputable company re-do all the work
