Overall Experience with Rising Sun
We have been using Rising Sun for over 8 years. RS installed our in-ground, heated vinyl insert pool and subcontracted for the deck. Generally, the staff that provided service on the pool were competent, professional and timely. We were able to talk with RS's crews and learn on do to many routine maintenance procedures (proper filter maintenance, how to put a winter pool cover on/ open/close pool) to minimize our annual costs.
The owners (especially Tara) are always helpful and provide good advice. And, if you are a frequent customer, you can always ask and receive from one of the owners a small discount on supplies. Some of the staff are clearly more experienced than others, and it is always good to talk to someone who has been with RS a few seasons. I have found that I know more than a staff member about the issue, I ask for someone who has handled my type of problem before. When all else fails, I ask to speak to one of the owners.
I should note that I find that sometimes I have not adequately described my problem and that has led to some advice rendered that later proved to be marginally helpful. For example, a few years ago, when I decided to winterize the pool, I asked a RS employee for something to "plug" up the discharge holes. I was sold some rubber plugs that can be expanded when turning a screw. For years, when I took the pool cover off, I found that the plugs had fallen out. When I discussed this problem with RS, the employee with whom I spoke, immediately recognized the issue, sold me plastic screw-ins and an inexpensive device to remove the plastic discharge valve that had previously prevented me from using this type of plastic plug.
I was somewhat dismayed by negative comments I read about the service provided customers. I might suggest that RS send out a survey to its customers on an annual basis to see where service/equipment could be improved to avoid future problems.
Based on my overall experience, I would give them 4 stars.
