Tacos
Pretty damn authentic, especially with what the menu offers. I'm definitely a fan of their cabeza, adobada (aka "al pastor"), buche (pork stomach), and lengua. I will definitely pass on the sesos though... I tried it once and it's just not my thing. They have it labeled as "beef" and it most definitely is not... it's "brains," so maybe in this case, it's cow's brain? The soft mushy texture just doesn't work for me in a taco...I've been here twice so far and both times the place was always packed with Mexicans. That's a sure good sign of authenticity.Great friendly staff; they always have a smile on even though they probably deal with hundreds of orders a day.

Best carne asada burrito
Robertos is a San Diego institution. I am not sure how long they have been around, but I know it has been at least 20 or 30 years. There are about 30 restaurants scattered around San Diego County. As far as I know they have not expanded beyond San Diego, and that is too bad for the rest of the country. Robertos is just about the perfect taco shop. They have great tacos (what else would you expect), but my favorite thing there is the carne asada burrito. Nothing but meat, pico de gallo, and guacamole wrapped in a delicious tortilla. The hot sauce here is awesome too. I like to unwrap my carne asada and add plenty of hot sauce to the inside. Then I augment every bite with a bit of hot sauce “topically”. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. If you have not been to Robertos, do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Best 24/7 Mexican Food Joint!
Mmmm Roberto's!! This is my #1 spot for mexican food. Quick, cheap and I am in LOOOOVE with the hot sauce. I drench it over EVERYTHING. So yummy. Definitely get the beef tacos combo with beans and rice, ask for sour cream on the side and slather everything on there with hot sauce. Another favorite are the rolled tacos with sour cream and guacamole. I love the grated cheese they put over everything as well. If you're craving breakfast get a breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs, cheese, and potatoes. Don't forget the hot sauce! If you like skinny fries don't get the carne asada fries here cause they use thicker steak fries. Go to the other Roberto's in clairemont for that!

Quick bite to eat by Tyler L. at InsiderPages
It's tough to find food late at night in La Jolla or Mira Mesa. Roberto's Taco Shop is there to cater for late night munchies or cravings for carne asada. Recommendations include pollo asado/carne asada fries or nachos, california burrito and their horchata. It's open 24 hours so it gets a star for that. The salsa is also great so give it a try any time of the day.

Cheers

Decent Mexican Food by Pam C. at InsiderPages
The food at Robertos is decent and it is nice that they are open 24 hours, so you can always get your taco fix. The food can be a bit greasy, and the staff can be a bit creepy at late hours, so watch out for that.
