As breeders of show and sled dogs for 30 years, with a multi-dog household, we have used the services of several veterinarians--some as general practitioners, others as specialists. Over the years we have encountered some less than stellar vets in the Tahoe-Truckee area, and also, a few excellent vets who have retired or left the area, thus causing us to try out new clinics in the hope of finding a replacement who will provide the very best care for our dogs. This vet is way up on our list as a valued resource and we will drive all the way from north Tahoe-Truckee area to have him see our dogs. NW Veterinary Clinic has consistently provided our dogs with quality care, and this doctor on one occasion went above and beyond what most vets would do for our pets. New Year's eve day we had a 7 week old puppy in serious condition with GI problems, possibly an obstruction or severe illness. I have owned dogs my whole life but this was my worst veterinary experience ever, by far. When I first walked in to the office, the receptionist/vet tech ignored me and didn't even look at me for at least four minutes while she was on the phone, although I stood right in front of her. When she finally did escort my dog and I into the room, the veterinarian came in and asked her my dog's name instead of asking me, and didn't introduce himself to me at all. He didn't try to warm up to my dog at all, who was cowering in the corner. He didn't talk to her, give her treats, or even try to pet her. Then he came at her with a needle to draw blood and of course she urinated on the floor from submission and fear. Then he proceeded to express her anal glands but didn't wipe the area afterwards, opting for a sickly sweet and cheap body spray instead. Finally, when I was paying my bill at the front desk, the same receptionist/vet tech began to gossip with her coworker right ...
