There is no better patio in Chico for outside dinning! Red Tavern creates delicious meals using local ingredients. Nothing too fancy, just great ingredients prepared excellently.‎

We have been going to the Red Tavern for years and have never had a bad meal. Sometimes it is just really good, but often it is excellent. We have traveled the world and will put the Red Tavern up with some of the best. We are vey fortunate to have such an excellent and professional establishment in our small town.‎

and food left much to be desired. While layout and décor set the stage for a sophisticated evening, the food did not hold up to those preconceptions. The Frog Leg Beignet salad was chaotic and flavorless while the NY Strip was tough and under-seasoned. ...

To the best of my knowledge the Red Tavern is the only truly gourmet restaurant in north eastern California.
Even in San Francisco, the food would draw praise.

A bit expensive by Chico standards but a real bargain when compared to comparable big city restaurants.
