You guys rock by Jamie W. at InsiderPages
First of all... I miss your store in Pleasant Hill. Secondly, the selection, buy-back policies, and pricing is second to none. I know in Berkeley a lot of people go to either you guys or Amoeba, but I prefer Rasputin because of the selection and knowledge of the staff... very friendly and give excellent recommendations.

Maybe the biggest music store around there, but the service is terrible and the price is not cheap.
You had better go to Amazon at first.

Bad Service
I bought a DVD at Berkeley store. The DVD said "List 69.97 / Rasputin Price 39.97", so I thought it was really cheap. But after I came back home and checked internet, I found that the real retail price of the DVD is 44.98!! Amazon sells it only 24.00 dollars. I returned to the store and tried to refund it. They said that it was their mistake, but that they cannot refund because they don't have return policy. What do you think? I feel like that I got taken!! I will never go to the store again.

Good! by Chris T. at InsiderPages
The store is great for buying new and used media. They sell everything from music to dvds and posters. I've never went to Rasputin and not found what I was looking for. While I've noticed they're prices are a bit higher than Best Buy and Amazon, I think it's good to support the little guy. The location is good because it's on Telegraph, which makes it a great time killer if you're in between classes and you don't want to goto the library. One downside though is the parking. Finding parking is not easy, so I would recommend taking the bus. Plus with it's location close to Amoeba you can go one a musical shopping spree.

Rasputin's-home of the amateur rock historian
Over the course of my dealings with them, I've had some problems with 2 of the employees at Rasputin's. These guys are amateur rock historians, who are judgemental of people who don't listen to their metal or any of that junk. I buy alot of 70s punk and obscure rock, soul and blues from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000's, as well as flamenco, old country and jazz. I consider my tastes to be very diverse and I'm always respectful when meeting new people, despite the judgemental criticism I received at this store on multiple occasions. The guys at Rasputin's are cocky and all-knowing, as they play obnoxious music through their system, in an attempt to impress someone, or perhaps each other. These show-offs are obviously trying to compensate for everything they lack. I can find better record stores by simply driving through San Francisco.
