Bought some surf racks here
After doing some online research, I headed to REI to buy some surf racks for my car. I had a brand and type in mind, however, once I got there the sales rep talked me into a different kind that actually worked out way better than what I was planning. Or at least, I'm pretty sure it did.
I find REI pretty overwhelming and don't go too often. They just have so much stuff in there. This one is easily located with plenty of parking. I'll make a point of stopping in more often. I've had several friends plan their wedding registries here lately. I think it makes sense for couples who are a bit more settled with their own stuff when they get married.

The Nordstrom of outdoor retail
For outdoor enthusiasts, REI is a dream come true. They're on Copley Drive, you can see their store if you're driving on 52 between 805 and 15.
The quality of the merchandise here is high-end, and for the serious backpacker/camper/adventurer, you don't want any compromises when you are out in the middle of nowhere when it comes to your gear. I consider them the "Nordstrom" of outdoor retail, not only because of the quality of their merchandise, but also because of the customer service and the return policy. Of course, the merchandise can be considered to be priced at a premium, but you certainly get what you pay for. I have never been disappointed with anything I purchased there, returning anything with my receipt was hassle-free and the service is always attentively helpful.
The only thing I am disappointed about this particular store, and it has nothing to do with their customer service or merchandise, is that years ago they used to have a rock-climbing wall in the center of the store. It was taken down and I wish it was brought back.

Outdoor Super Warehouse
This is like the craziest outdoor store that is a large costco like warehouse. Decent deals on bikes but watch out for their warranty issues. It used to be lifetime warranty, and they changed the rules which is sort of shady.
