I was ripped off
I was renovating my house and for a host of reasons not worth getting into, needed a drywall guy last minute. Availability was an issue as we needed to stay on schedule. Ken came out for an estimate and called me from the car with a number I thought was high, but I was in a pinch. He seemed like a nice enough guy and I felt like he wasn't going to take advantage or anything, so that must really be what it costs. Wrong. I got the full on 92037 and female markup.
To boot, probably due to his long commute he only worked about 5-6 hours a day. We were on a serious timeline so I didn't appreciate not knowing this upfront. At the end of the project he also had the nerve to ask me for substantially more money, because there wound up being a few small holes he had to patch. I also am not happy with the texture in one part of our house. He also told another worker here that he was making "so much money" on our project.
In fairness, this happened about 3.5 years ago, however, every time I think about it I get angry. I was pregnant then too to boot. I'm writing this now because I just had more drywall work done at about 1/3 of the price I paid with Precision Drywall. It made me realize how badly I got ripped off.
