Poseidon is one of Del Mar's very best restaurants located right on the beach at Del Mar. This is a very popular restaurant, often very busy on and off season. Reservations are strongly recommended. I've bee coming to this restaurant for years for both business and pleasure and it has never been anything less than a great experience. The staff is always very friendly and professional, the food is always delicious and the view is hard to beat looking directly out onto the beach and ocean. It's a bit on the expensive side but worth every penny. Parking can be tough too so I suggest the valet.

I've been to Poseidon a handful of times now and always have an okay time! The food is pretty good, the service is okay, but the view is beautiful! Definitely sit outside on the patio - where you get a front row view of the waves. <br />

Poseidon seems to be a staple for the North County / Del Mar folk, but I'm not quite sure it lives up to all the hype. Still recommend you to try it, if for the sunset alone!

Poseidon has come a long way since a few years back. They have completely renovated the entire restaurant. I think they put about 2 million into it. It looks great. they struggled with quality food for a year or so after they renovated but they have finally got the whole place in top shape. The food is now very good, I recommend trying the lunch fish specials. The have a great pear walnut chicken salad. The shrimp appetiser with the mango dipping sauce is also great. Probably the main reason I go here almost weekly is because it is located right on the beach with only a small 3 foot high cement wall separating you from the sand and the waves. Having a cocktail here and watching the sunset is something special.

If you want the perfect location on the beach for sunsets and cocktails this is the place. This place is a Del Mar icon and mainly caters to the tourist crowd..so the food isnt the best..they did a remodel about 3 years ago and turned it into a nice beachy lounge feel. As a local it is best to go for happy hours and Sunday brunch. Good place to milk a hangover with tequila sunrises. They actually have a DJ here that spins on the patio during the summer..which is rare maybe once a month, but certainly a time not to miss. The locals really dominate the happy hour scene..mixed in with the tourists having dinner. Great place to hang out and drinks. Not the best place to expect an exquisite dinner. They have valet service which is nice. <br />

And best of all a lot of meetings went down here in the creation of MojoPages...so if your lucky you may feel the mojo circulating the place.

The best thing about Posiedon is the location. The food is average and the service is average. The food is a little over priced in my opinion. The sunset and views are amazing. I don't know if its worth the price and wait though. It can get very crowded at sunset. I always make a reservation if I go.
