Closing dates
I have had three separate instances where I have checked the website and there was no mention of holiday closing, then I arrive and the center is closed. No sign even on the door. To be closed the Saturday before MLK day makes no sense. I would hope that the center can communicate better with their clients in the future

amazing staff, long waits though
the counselors and doctors are the most kind, caring and compassionate professionals i have ever encountered in the medical field, and i work in it. i was treated like a human being, with respect, no judgements of any kind. they truly cared about my physical and emotional well-being. it was almost unbelievable to encounter such a team of true professionals.

Great Option for the Uninsured
I had a very good experience with this Planned Parenthood facility. I've just moved to NY from LA, and my insurance coverage has not kicked in for my new job. I have to say that my experience at Planned Parenthood in NYC was FAR BETTER than my experience with my HMO (Kaiser) in California. There was a bit of a wait for my appointment, but once I was seen the doctor was kind, very patient, and answered all my questions completely. I was able to get a 6 month supply of bc pills for about the same price as my Kaiser co-pay. Great option for the uninsured.

Pros: Knowledgeable Service and Low Cost
Cons: A bit of a wait (but not much longer than my regular Doctor's office)

A lot of mess-ups
They gave me run-arounds at every spot: booked me under the wrong code, so the nurse had to fight just to re-book me (and I had to pay 140 dollars instead of 40); didn't give me an appropriate form with which to go and get an HIV test; gave me the wrong phone number to book a followup appointment. The worst part is that they weren't able to provide accurate information on a particular form of birth control--which was the purpose of my visit, to help me figure out if this was the right thing for me to do. The lady who was helping me kept referring to the brochures that she was going to give me and gave vague answers. I am squeamish to go there and have the procedure now... thinking of just going to a doctor. I wouldn't recommend this place.

If you want to get treated like you walk the streets..
Ladies! Please PLEASE do not go here if it's your first time having an abortion or any other important proceedure. The nurses and attendants, no matter how nice or accommodating you attempt to be in the circumstances, will treat you like you are wasting every second of their time. There was not an ounce of care at this care center. I watched nurses/ assistants scream at women to get up out of their chairs when they were recovering from general or local (extremely painful proceedure) anaesthetic. I spent half an hour with a girl who threw up in a trash can whilst app. 10 medical assistants watched or yelled at her for throwing up (from her nausea). I also had a friend who was rushed to the emergency room for incapacitating uteral contractions after the same proceedure this year. Unknowing or unaware (I have no idea which) the attendants at Margaret Sanger Center are collectively the worst healthcare assistants I've encounted in my life. It was absolutely traumatizing and I know for a fact I am not alone.

I have never written a review before but the whole experience was difficult enough. All women in this position ought to know.
