Pima Air & Space Museum
The Pima Air and Space Museum offers three different kinds of tours. The first time we went there, we did the walking tour. It was exciting to see three different hangars with different types of aircrafts. The second time we went there, we took the bus. We had to go back to return the diaper bag to the car because, for safety reasons, only one small carry-on item was allowed per passenger in the bus. We enjoyed this tour better than the walking tour... the cooler environment made it a more pleasant experience for the family. The kids enjoyed it, but I think an hour-an hour and a half worth of walking/sitting/listening was too much for my children's short attention span. The water cooler that are placed in certain locations of the museum kept the kids busy. They enjoyed competing on who would find the next water station. This, by the way, was a nice touch considering we have these hot summers.

I do recommend going here if you want to learn about the great planes of the past and how they were used. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Be sure to bring your ID because they do check it.

Best Air & Space Museum EVER by Craig C. at InsiderPages
The Pima Air and Space Museum is the best Air & Space Museum that I have ever been to-- and this includes the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. There is so much to do and see. There are tons of interactive exhibits. There must be hundreds of different planes. Make sure you go during nice weather. We got stuck in the rain and couldn't spend as much time with the outdoor exhibits as we wanted to.

PROS: Inexpensive, a lot to do and see
CONS: NOTHING

Pima Air and Space Museum by L C. at InsiderPages
While in Tucson, you need to visit this museum, especially if you're into aviation. A spectacular entrance is just the prelude to what's in store for you inside the museum. You'll see more aviation items than you ever thought you'd see. Definitely a museum to visit more than once.

Great for the Whole Family by A D. at InsiderPages
My husband and I have been visiting the Pima Air and Space Museum since we moved to Tucson in 1995. Every year, the musuem improves, so if you haven't been there in a while, you are in for a treat. Exhibits include both indoor (hanger) displays and outdoor displays. The collection is incredibly extensive and includes both famous and lesser known aircraft. The Challenger Space Center features space-related exhibits and interactive displays for kids.

The main hanger contains a replica of the Wright Flyer among many other things. Kids will enjoy sitting in real plane cockpits and moving the controls. A free Morphis ride provides a virtual amusement park ride aboard a fictitious vehicle. For a fee, you may catch a tram tour out the back door of the main hanger. It's well worth it, because the guides include retired military who each have their own perspective on the aircraft and make the tour interesting and amusing.

On foot you can walk over to the presidential aircraft display and actually walk through a plane used by JFK while in office. The Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame is housed in a large building as is the 360th Memorial. Other hangers feature amazing aircraft and displays (which you can also tour on foot with a docent). The museum recently acquired a B-36 which they will be restoring in full view of the public. There are also many, many aircraft to walk up and inspect outside of hangars. I can't begin to name them all.

Amenities include a wonderful gift shop, a small restaurant, soda machines under covered ramadas througout, bathrooms, and free strollers/wagons to borrow. There is lots of free parking, and the staff are all friendly and eager to share their excitement with you. My 4 year old son loves this museum as much as I do. We bring out of town guests here first.

PROS: Extensive collection, knowledgeful docents, children's activities
CONS: Many exhibits

aircraft by Raj S. at InsiderPages
This museum has a large collections of historic aircraft. The collection includes one of the worlds fastest aircraft and a replica of the Wright Brothers plane. Walking tours are available and last about one and one-half hours and the ticket prices are inexpensive.

PROS: Great learning experience
CONS:
