Questionable materials, poor service
In 2004, I purchased garage doors from Piedmont Garage Doors and had them install the doors. I was very pleased with the courtesy of the installer and the doors worked well. A little over a year later, one of the garage door springs broke.
I use my garage for storage, not for cars, and to date I haven?t opened these doors more than 100 times. Several folks told me that it was very unusual to have a spring break so quickly.
I contacted Piedmont about the broken spring. They sent an installer, who charged me approx. $75 to replace the spring. I believe this was in Dec 2005.
In July 2007 I discovered that another spring had broken. I contacted Piedmont and spoke at length with Kelly Gordy, the manager. Understandably so, he questioned the time period since the installation. However, he agreed to send someone to look at the problem.
A representative of Piedmont Garage Doors came to my home and, after seeing the doors and the broken spring, agreed that this should not be happening, and said it was a problem with the materials. A week later the spring was replaced at no charge.
I?ve now written Piedmont Garage Doors twice about a refund for the cost of the first repair. I was charged approx $75 for the first spring replacement, and this payment should never have been requested. Neither of my letters has received a response.
From the beginning I feel like I?ve had to work pretty hard to get Piedmont to deal with this situation with any business integrity, and it?s been a hassle. I would recommend going with another company for your garage door installation or repairs.
