Phils BBQ is the best in all of San Diego. It cannot be beat. It's a very big establishment and it is always packed which helps me know the food is exceptional. They have every type of barbeque there is known to man. The pulled pork is my favorite. They have enormous proportions, too big in fact. They also have amazing corn on the cob and mind blowing corn bred. The staff is friendly and you certainly won't go hungry. They also offer catering. If you even remotely enjoy BBQ then Phils is a must!

I love this place, granted I was there during restaurant week, but even with the huge line around the corner it was still amazing. Its pretty much self serve, as you wait in line then place your order and they give you a pager to come and claim your food, this was nice and relatively stress free, it was also seat your self. The entire staff was friendly, the food was great, the beer was good, the sangria was good, and I never felt like I was over crowded or rushed, as I thought I might be walking up to the place. I would highly recommend it.

Good. Hated the wait, especially when its cold. My first time there, the dude behind the counter convinced me and a friend to get way more than we needed by making everything sound smaller than it was. I should've figured since he was a bit on the heftier side. But all good. The fries are really good! I like it. The onion rings are a bit on the over done side but the baby back ribs were good. The full rack is good enough for two people!!! The only thing I didn't care for the burnt remnants on the ribs and chicken (but I get it, some people like that). Oh and if you order more than one dish, its a bit hard to carry all by yourself. Mostly because you don't want to lose your table since you aren't allow to sit at it beforehand. Otherwise, I'll definitely come back.

Phils barbecue is like a staple food in just about every college students diet that I know. It is so crazy good! And cheap, and fast services. There is always a line up when I've been there but they go through it quite fast. I normally just get their basic pulled pork barbecue sandwich and I'm never disapointed. For such a big restaurant serving barbecue in southern California, they do really well. The onion rings are also a good side dish, really big. The sandwhiches are really big though so there isn't such a need for a side dish even though they offer some good ones. If you want there is a bar side to the pt loma location too. Overall a great, family or friends place to eat a good barbecue sandwich for a good price.
