Poor service, poor stock‎
Needed a helmet and road shoes. No stock of anything that fit. No assistance from all the workers standing around talking. California Peddeler in Danville had the equipment and FANTASTIC service I was looking for.‎

Strange experience...‎
I took my bike in for a tune up and this guy in the service dept. tells me he has too many bikes- can't get to it for like 3 weeks, but that he could do it "on the side" for me at his house. So he takes my bike outside. to the back alley? and shoves it in his van while he tells me a story of how his ike wah just ripped off from that very van? I was lke, uhm, is my bike going to be safe in there? he guaranteed he was going to go home for lunch right then, and drop it off and fix it for me by the next day. I felt very weird about this and not sure, I should of listened to my gut, but I needed my bike for a ride and the shifters were all messed up. So he gives me his home phone number and tells me to call him tomorrow... turns out, I called for 3 days in a row, no amswer. then the 4th day his mother answers and says she will look for him and i heard his voice in the background, then she said he wasnt there? Then I called again the next day, and i swear it was him who ...

What a goofus‎
Going to Rivendell for service of an aluminum bike is like taking a letter opener to a knife sharpener. Getting pissy about not getting that kind of service is just inappropriate. RBW is very clear about what they will and won't (or can and cannot) do.‎

If it weren't for Oscar....‎
I think I'm going elsewhere in future. I dropped by on Tuesday evening to book both my bike (for a gear shifter) and my wife's bike (for a tune-up). I was asked to drop by my bike in on Thursday evening (7/24) for it to be worked on Friday. I was issued a claim ticket for my bike with an order number and a due date marked 7/25. Thursday morning I ride my wife's bike downtown to the shop at 09:30 for it's tune-up. On my way down, I get a call from work meaning that I need to be in San Francisco by 10:20. I arrive at the store to find it's closed with a posted opening time of 10:00. I can see a staff member inside fiddling with the till and I try to catch his eye to leave the bike with him. He kept on shouting over me from behind the glass doors that the shop was closed and he *couldn't* open the door. He wasn't interested in hearing that I needed to drop the bike with him. After telling me to lock it up outside, I pointed out that there was no way for me to ...
