WE DROPPED OFF OUR BLACK CORVETTE ON A MONDAY 09-02-08. WE HAD TWO TIRES THAT HAD BLOWN AND ONE RIM BADLY DAMAGED. IT TOOK THEM 11 DAYS TO DO WHAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ONE DAY. THEY WERE TOLD BY MY HUSBAND AND OUR INS. AGENT THAT WE WANTED 4 TIRES ALL THE WAY AROUND OF ANOTHER TYPE, INSTEAD OF JUST REPLACING THE 2. THEY SAID NO PROBLEM. ANTOINE AND MATT ALLEN WERE THE TWO WE DEALT WITH. I CHECKED BACK A DAY OR TWO LATER AND MATT ALLEN ADMITTED THAT "SOMEONE" HAD ORDERED THE WRONG RIM AND IT WOULD BE YET ANOTHER DAY LONGER. AFTER HEARING NOTHING FOR A FEW DAYS, MY HUSBAND CALLED AND TALKED WITH THEM. THEY SAID THAT OUR INS AGENT WOULD NOT APPROVE THIS. HE TOLD THEM HE KNEW THIS WAS A BALD FACE LIE, BECAUSE HE HAD TALKED IN LENGTH WITH OUR PROGRESSIVE AGENT. WE CALLED THE AGENT. HE SAID THAT WAS A BALD FACED LIE TOO. WHEN CALLING THEM BACK ANTOINE GOT AN ATTITUDE AND SAID "WEVE ALREADY PUT THE 2 TIRES ON AND WE'RE NOT GONNA RE DO IT. HE "CLAIMED" THEY COULD NOT RETURN THE TWO TIRES THEY HAD PUT ON OR EXCHANGE THEM. OUR AGENT CALLED AGAIN TO CONFRONT THEM. HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS. HE ASKED FOR MATT ALLEN, SVC MANAGER AND THEY KEPT SAYING "HES IN A MEETING." AFTER 3 HOURS THE PROGRESSIVE AGENT ASKED WHOEVER ANSWERED THE PHONE WHEN HE WOULD BE OUT OF THE MEETING. THEY TOLD HIM "WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TELL YOU THAT." AT THIS POINT THE AGENT TOLD US WE NEEDED TO CALL BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE EXECS AS THEY WERE TOTALLY UNCOOPERATIVE. MY HUSBAND SAID WE WOULD GO SEE THEM. WE WENT AND MATT ALLEN TOLD HIM A BUNCH OF BS AND THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY REFUSED TO DO IT THE WAY THE CUSTOMER ASKED. UNLESS WE PAID FOR THE TWO TIRES THEY "MYSTERIOUSLY" COULDNT RETURN. IT NEVER OCCURRED TO ME IT WAS BECAUSE THEY WERE "USED". MY HUSBAND HAD A FLIGHT OUT THE NEXT DAY AND WE DECIDED TO PICK IT UP, AND DEAL WITH THEM WHEN HE GOT BACK. THEY THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE CHECK FROM PROGRESSIVE FOR THE REPAIRS.
BUYER BEWARE: THERE ARE 19 PAGES OF RIPOFF REPORTS FROM ALL AROUND THE US ON PEPBOYS. READ THEM. MANY HERE IN THE DFW AREA. THIS WAS THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE APPALLING DISPLAY OF APATHY I HAVE EVER WITNESSED IN ANY SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I'M 53 AND HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO DISRESPECTFULLY. MATT ALLEN, THE SVC. MANAGER IS AN ARROGANT, SMUG, IMMATURE, BOY THAT COULD CARE LESS WHAT HIS CUSTOMERS THINK. YES I LOST MY TEMPER. IT WAS ALMOST CLOSING TIME AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE PERSON AROUND AND I WAS FURIOUS. I NOTICED THE GIRL WAS CRYING. COME TO FIND OUT, SHE WAS BRINGING HER CAR BACK. SHE SAID SHE HAD TIRES PUT ON AND TOLD THEM TO BE SURE AND TIGHTEN THE LUGNUTS. WHEN SHE GOT UP THE ROAD SHE NOTICED THEY HAD NOT DONE IT. NOT SURE WHY SHE WAS CRYING. HES NOT MAN ENOUGH TO LOOK YOU IN THE EYES WHEN YOU COMPLAIN. FIRST OF ALL HES LYING. HE CONTINUALLY IGNORES YOU AND WALKS AWAY. YOU WONT EVEN BELIEVE HIS RESPONSE TO MY COMPLAINTS....IT WAS "WELL THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU RUN A BUSINESS." I INFORMED HIM WITH A QUICKNESS THAT WE HAVE A BUSINESS OF OUR OWN AND THAT IS NOT HOW IT IS.
MY SON N LAW FINALLY PUT THE PUZZLE TOGETHER FOR US. HE ASKED US IF WE CHECKED THE MILEAGE FROM WHEN THEY GOT THE VET AND THEN 11 DAYS LATER WHEN WE PICKED IT UP. THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE OF ABOUT 60 MILES. WE THINK SOMEBODY HAD THEMSELVES A LITTLE JOYRIDE IN OUR VET FOR A FEW DAYS. ALSO....WHEN I WENT TO GET IN THE VET, IT WAS TOTALLY UNLOCKED. THERE WAS A GPS IN THERE WORTH ABOUT 1,000 NOT TO MENTION THE BOSE STEREO SYSTEM. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDULOUS TO ME. I GUESS WHOEVER TOOK THEIR DATE OUT IN IT OVER THE WEEKEND FORGOT TO LOCK IT BACK UP.
I TOLD MR. ALLEN THAT HE WON THE BATTLE BUT HE HAS NOT WON THE WAR. I FOUND OUT THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH M.A.P. MOTOR ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
I CONTACTED THEM AND HAVE THE ADDRESS OF THEIR DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY VERY MUCH CARE ABOUT THIS. MY HUSBAND IS CONTACTING HIM , HIS COMPANY ATTORNEY, THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND HE GOT WHAT IS APPARANTLY A RARE THING, A NUMBER TO SOME EXECS IN PA AT PEPBOYS.
Pros : NOT ONE AT ALL. I WOULDNT TAKE MY GRANDDAUGHTERS TRICYCLE THERE.
