Difficult to deal with at times
I went to the Pencin clinic numerous times with my dog, and while Dr. Pencin was very polite and friendly, both to myself and my dog, she seemed to lack knowledge of what treatment options were for the condition my dog had/has. I had to go to another vet after the first two round of treatment left my little girl more sick than she was to begin with, while Dr. Pencin insisted we should continue. It turns out there's a slightly more expensive, yet more effective treatment on the market. This does lead me to wonder whether or not they truly care about your pet / family member, or if they are moreso considering cost at the expensive of your pet's health.
In addition, when I tried to change veterinarians due to all of this, they flat out refused to release my dog's medical records to me, stating that only a veterinarian could request them, and it had to be in writing, signed and dated by the receiving veterinarian. I never thought that HIPPAA would apply to dogs.
I called the new Vet and told them what was going on, which baffled them to no end, as they hadn't ever heard of any such law or policy before in veterinary medicine. They called and were told the same thing by the Pencin clinic, that they need it in writing including exactly what parts of the record they need. Suffice it to say, 3 days later, myself, the new vet, and the Pencin clinic are still in the arguing stages to get my dogs record.
Definitely a place that doesn't have your pet's best interests at heart. Try a drunken moose, he may care more than Pencin does.
