This place is terrible... by Chris K. at InsiderPages
At first, I thought that I was the only one to have problems with the place, but then I found this site. So, here's my story. I am a recently relocated military pilot. My wife and I had purchased a home and were in the market for a new pet as well. Both of us are experienced dog owners, however neither of us owned a pet at the time. We went to the pet store that Pee Wee's works out of on Sundays and began browsing for a puppy. We did this for several weeks because we couldn't find just the right dog. It actually became sort of an informal Sunday after-church tradition for us. Finally one Sunday we found a perfect dog. He was handsome, the right size for our yard, and he was the only dog there that was not only alert but quiet as well. I told the elderly gentle man working there that we were interested and asked if he could hold him for an hour while I went home to get my checkbook. He agreed and I was back in half an hour to find an empty cage. As I approached the gentleman to ask him where the dog had gone a younger girl jumped in my path and asked if she could help me. I got the feeling that she didn't want me to speak to him. I asked her about the dog and she said that it had been adopted. I explained that what the man had agreed to and she told me that it was their policy not to hold animals. I told her that I understood, but I had been told otherwise and that it was not good practice to make promises to people that you had no intention of honoring. She then said, and I quote, Well, he's just a volunteer, he doesn't know. I was dumbfounded. Was this was the best cover up to his mistake that they could conjure up or were they so negligent in the training of their volunteers that this oversight had slipped through the cracks? Either way, the conversation was over because the lady was clearly uncomfortable with me and any further question I had and bid me good day.
