From Someone On the Inside
I have never been so proud to work at a place like this. I have worked on and off at Paws in Chelsea since 2005. I helped open the Paws in Soho location in 2007. I still work there as needed whenever I can (they call me their permanent "temp"). What I love about both locations is that we really are animal lovers. We treat your animals like our own. The Soho location looks a little nicer cause it's newer, but it's basically the same set-up. The place has a "mom and pop" mentality and don't just see your pet as a number. Pets names are remembered and the owners are remembered (i.e. Ray owns Babi and Carlos owns Knelson). These are little details that I think lack in other places. Since it's cageless, the dogs are put in by their size and temperament. Crazy with crazy, big dogs with big dogs, small calm with small calm, etc. There is even a "geriatric" dog room. LOL. Instead of crates for the dogs that need to be separated either because of aggression, old-age issues, etc., there are separated rooms. At the Chelsea location, you have Lynne and Mike (who have worked there forever!), Krizzia (whose own dogs come for daycare there sometimes!), Jane (who is famous for having dogs on her lap at the front desk), Colbie (who works hard during the night to make sure the boarding animals are safe and comfortable), to name a few. I have never met a group of people with so much heart and since I've been in the workforce for over 15 years, that's saying something. Paws in Soho has Walter (co-owner of Paws, Inc. but he still works there - animals seem to really love him and vice versa), Antonio and David (the night guys!), and Anna (the extremely competent front desk girl) to name a few. Mostly everyone has pets or multiple pets. We are constantly cleaning (mop, scrub, hose) the rooms, the halls, etc. all day long every day. We work holidays and give turkey on Thanksgiving (if your animal isn't allergic). We give birthday parties if we know your pet's b-day. I can honestly say that it's all about your animals. It's what we do.
