I HAVE BEEN USING PAUL CHANG TAILORS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. HE IS THE BEST. THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN NOT DO AND THERE IS NOTHING HE WON'T DO BIG OR SMALL.

I WAS VERBALLY ASSAULTED BY THE TAILOR AT PAUL CHANG's and he brought me to in tears at the store. I had originally taken a dress to an excellent tailor in Old Town (Tails), who did a spectacular job taking in the dress, but it was a little too tight. I would have taken the dress back to Tails to be let out, but the owner went on vacation for a month, and I needed the dress for an upcoming wedding. In a bind, I went to Paul Chang's and asked them to let out the dress a bit. When I went to pick it up, the dress fit fine, but I noticed that the zipper wouldn't zip up all the way and a hook&eye had been added as a "quick fix" to the situation. When I pointed this out to the tailor at Paul Chang's he told me that the zipper never zipped all the way up, that I just didn't remember what the dress looked like before, and that he didn't do anything wrong. When I indicated that I did remember what the dress looked like (after having spent $100 at the other tailor on it!) and that I wanted him to try to make it look a little better, he told me that he would not tolerate being criticized by me. He then started screaming at me, saying things like, "I'm not going to take your bi%ching, my ex-wife used to bi%ch at me!" and "I want you to get the f@$k out of here, and you better pay me!" He waved a pair of shears in my face and threatened to cut my dress up if I didn't pay him. I can understand if you are reading this in disbelief.....it was the most unbelievable, shocking and terrifying scene I have ever been involved in. I began to cry in the store, and a gentleman who witnessed the whole thing took me out of the shop to calm down. Still extremely shaken up, I paid for the dress and got out of there as quickly as I could. No customer should be treated the way I was treated at Paul Chang's. I am looking into what the steps are to file charges for assault and intimidation with the police.

I had two custom suits made--one solid gray and one tuxedo--in less time than I had a made-to-measure navy suit made by another tailor. The two by Paul fit beautifully with hand-stitched lapels, fully canvassed front, and functioning button holes. The one made by other tailor was more expensive (and it was only MTM), and fit poorly. It's just hanging in the closet, hardly worn. I hate it, as a matter of fact. In short, go to Paul. I've been going to him since. Paul Chang is the best tailor I have ever been to. Paul is extremely knowledgeable about men's fashion and can replicate ANYTHING!!! He is the tailor for several Chicago filmed movies including "Home Alone", "Road to Perdition", "Ocean's Eleven" and Twelve, and many more. He made all the costumes for "The Untouchables" TV series. He also works heavily with all of Chicago's larger theatres. He's been in Chicago for about 40 years. Lastly, he's a nice guy and is really easy to work with!
