NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE
This was the Largo location on West Bay Drive. We eat at every place possible in Pinellas county. 2 to 4 times a week. Heard The Thirsty Marlin was good. Decided to give it a try. The wait staff were prompt and friendly, the place was clean and the ambience nice. The food was mediocre at best. Ordered a soft shell crab sandwich which to unbeknownst to me, it came out as a "whole" crab on an onion roll. I did not want this at all, offered to pay for it (which they gladly let me) and ordered a cuban sandwhich in it's place. The Cuban was not at all indicitive of an authentic cuban. Castro would have shot the man who made it. My wife ordered a Ahi Sensation Tuna sandwich. Ordered it rare, rare, rare, in which it came out medium-well to very-well. Not impressed at all with the food. Everything was just so-so. Not worth the price. Would not recommend or go back. Much better food at Bonefish or Rumba.

Best seafood restaurant we have ever visited.
My family and I recently had dinner at the Thirsty Marlin and even though there were 8 of us, the service was excellent and the food the same. We moved to the Clearwater area about two years ago and have been hearing about this restaurant ever since we moved here but for one reason or another we just hadn't made the trip and now we are sorry we put it off. My husband even ordered a steak that he said was one of the most tender he has eaten. I had salmon cooked on a cedar plank that was fantastic and I had a bite of my son's Grooper sandwich and WOW was it good. I would recommend the Thirsty Marlin to anyone that wants great food and service. I also understand they are opening a new one near West Bay and Missouri ave in Largo which is closer to where we live. YEA!

not a pleasant dining experience
This was our first and last trip to the Thirsty Marlin. A few nights ago my husband decided to try this resaurtant but never again. We chose to sit outside since it was such a nice night but there were so many flies that it made eating very difficult. Our waitress said this has happened before with the flies. It was so hard to eat because there were at least 2 dozen flies trying to get at our food. My husband had crab legs and the flies on the empty shells was disgusting!. We finally had to call our server over to take away the shells in hopes that the flies would leave. It was hard trying to enjoy the food when you have to shoo away flies. Walking thru the restaurant we even noticed quite a few flies inside. It was such a horrible experience. It really took your appetite away. We won't be back
