Awesome landlord!
I just signed my second lease with Owen, and I had no reservations about doing so. I moved in with a roommate, and after they moved out, I decided to keep the house with my husband when we got married.
To everyone griping about losing their deposits due to preexisting problems in the home, I wonder if you were listening at all when you signed your lease. He told you to complete a checklist and report every problem up front. I went over that list with a fine tooth comb, which was my responsiblity as a tenant. He also said to call immediately if something broke or was damaged, not to wait until the damage had spread. This prevents you from being charged. You didn't know there was a late charge for late rent? Really? Did you listen during the lease presentation? Did you read what you signed? It's no one's fault but your own if you didn't.
I also don't understand why some of you are complaining about the office staff. The ladies in the office have never been anything but friendly and professional to me. They have accomodated me when I could not make it by during office hours because of work. They have always found a way to work with me. Here's the thing: You have to let them know what you need. It is your responsibility as a tenant to communiate. You can't expect them to read your mind, and them call them "disorganized" or "rude" when they can't.
When our roommate moved out, he talked to OGM RE about other houses they have for rent. I have recommended Owen to friends looking for a new place. I think it's a shame to see him trashed by renters who were unwilling to listen, read or make a phone call. Owen, Patty and Lorie are awesome.
