Great coffee--unless you're a big fan of Starbucks
I enjoy dropping by Old Soul for a cup of coffee, and I really enjoy their honor system "put your money in the pitcher" way of doing business. This is a small, locally owned business trying to do things a little differently from the slick-marketing corp "experience" offered by chain coffee joints. However, the young baristas have NEVER been rude to me (and, frankly, show a lot less attitude, piercings, and tattoos than technically you might see, say in a coffee house in the Haight). C'mon, Baristas of Old Soul, show us the 'TUDE. (No, don't. I was just kidding. You're fine as you are. Carry on.)
Important to note: They hand roast all their coffees and get them from organic and small farmers. They're not an international McCoffee conglomerate, which means the people in there don't act like drones. And, it's a rather fine cuppa joe...
So. To sum up:
Drones, bland coffee, and a little Kenny G ---> Go to Starbucks.
Mellow ambiance, good coffee, good developing-nation karma ---> Old Soul......
You be the judge.
