Expensive! False Estimates!‎
We took our Weimaraner here at Christmas time last year. She had bloat and was on the brink of death. They gave us an estimate for $2500 to save our little Lucy! Of course, we quickly agreed. By the time it was all said and done, it was more like $6000! Nothing extra was needed; it was exactly what we were quoted to have done (only "extra" was that the vet nicked her diaphragm during the surgery filling her cavity with air... shouldn't be an added cost when you did the damage there). The only explanation I could get was that "this vet is more expensive than the vet I used to work for". Extremely expensive, doesn't work with you when they charge hundreds of percent more than quoted! Only reason they get two stars is because Lucy made it through! Save a couple bucks and go somewhere else. Try Sac Animal Hospital at 57th and H (not open at night though).‎

I should have gone with my gut feeling....‎
The Oncologist, Melinda Van Vechten, is a quack. She will try to soak you for unnecessary tests, such as an ultrasound when you have already agreed to go with a CT scan. We refused the ultrasound, and had the CT scan on Sat., cost $1500 + $160 for the consultation. We called on Tues to get the results and were told that the quack was out sick. Called Wed. and was told she would be in any minute. It was 10:15AM. I told the receptionist to have the Dr. call me as soon as she arrived, and was told by this arrogant, snotty twerp named Amanda "I can ASK her to call you, she has a lot of catching up to do so I don't know when she will get to you". She never did call us. In desperation, I called the Las Vegas Vet. Referral Service and scheduled an appt for Mon. 8 days after CT scan. Asked NCVS to send the records to ...

All in all the staff and service is great! Did find that some of (a few) of the people at the front desk were just a slightly bit unorganinzed, but no big deal. If you get your pet back in a carrier though insure you check to make sure you got the right one!!!‎
