I love this place! You must go whenever in PDX. All of their beers are of top-notch quality and their food is good as well. Top it all off - they are family friendly!

So we were walking around NW 23rd this Saturday and were so excited to find that the NW Laurelwood now serves breakfast! This neighborhood needs more breakfast places anyhow and this pub is one of our favorites. The menu is split, half breakfast and half lunch type items. I had the surf and turf benedict, a suspicious sounding combo but with candied bacon and Alaskan salmon-- yummo! Breakfast is on on Sat. and Sun. until 3 so get it when you can!

My sister, her two children and I were all starving one week night, roaming up and down all of 23rd. Unfortunately every place we tried was "bar only" after 9pm so we luckily stumbled across Laurelwood. They were not only kid friendly but welcomed us in at a late hour without trying to hurry us out like some others.
I just had a basic burger and fries but have to say it was outstanding as was the home brewed beer. Very cozy environment (old house turned into restaurant/bar) and nice service gave us all a good impression and ensured we will be coming back soon.

This was my first time at NW Laurelwood, and I will definitely come back. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the signature drinks were inventive and tasty, and the food was fresh and delicious. Looking over the menu, the prices seemed a bit high, but after receiving gigantic platefuls of food I stopped worrying about it. The bruschetta was thankfully not soaked in balsamic vinegar, and the tomatoes were ripe and fresh. My boyfriend had the generously portioned cheeseburger with fries; on the burger was the best BBQ sauce in town, and the fries weren't greasy or too salty. I had the caesar, which unfortunately didn't have much dressing, however much I liked Laurelwood's twist on the salad, adding bleu cheese and apple slices. Even so...yum!

I have been visiting Laurelwood's NE location for over 2 years. Aside from all the noisy kids, its been a great place. I had a craving for Laurelwood food but didn't feel like a Chuck E. Cheese environment so I recommended we try the NW Public House. I figured that the Nob Hill yuppie environment would yeild a predominently childless eating experience. I was wrong about that. But noisy kids are tolerable, a horrible restaurant experience is not.

It took about 15 minutes to be seated at Laurelwood NW. 15 minutes isn't very long, but it was made frustrating when a couple who arrived after us (without reservations mind you) were seated before us. Shortly after, we were seated on a cocktail round across from the bar...right next to a curtain that was supposed to disguise the kitchen. Despite pushing my chair as close to the wall as possible, everytime a server walked by our table I had to veer over to avoid getting smacked by a tray or a quickly moving body.

Our server ended up being the bartender. He was great at first; took our drink and food orders promptly. I ordered a cheeseburger and my boyfriend ordered some type of chicken sandwhich. As time went on, our server/bartender became swamped by bar patrons. He never approached our table again which was understandable. What wasn't understandable is that it took us over an hour to receive our food. My hamburger was luke-warm and fries cold. Apparently it had been sitting out a good while. My boyfriend didn't have any temperature complaints but said that his chicken sandwhich was awful.

I was desperately hungry so I ignored the burger's temperature and began to eat. It took me about 3/4 of the way through the cheeseburger to realize that my cheeseburger lacked an imperative ingredient: cheese. Unfortunately my passive nature and the fact that no server came back to check on us prevented me from sending it back.

Save yourself the trouble. Drinking here is fine (the beer is yum!) but don't come here to eat!
