BEWARE!!!!! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE
While vacationing in New Orleans, we rented a car for the day from Nifty Car Rental on Poydras Street. I was quoted 39.99 for a daily charge and my credit card was charged 300.00 deposit until I brougt the car back. We returned the car the same day and was given the paperwork showing that Nifty Car Rental owed us 255.21 which was to be credited to my credit card. This has not been done even after 2 phone calls to Nifty. I contacted my credit card company and informed them of this matter. Added note, the car we rented was filthy. We will never rent another car from Nifty Car Rental 2070 Poydras St. New Orleans, La. 70112.

OMG... Stay away... Far away!!!
Remember two things,
-This is Nifty "NOT" Thrifty (a national car rental company)
-You get what you pay for.

Located a few blocks past the Superdome, Nifty does offer pickup and drop off service (a necessity given their location). I knew we were in trouble when I entered the minivan for pickup. The general cleanliness of the vehicle left a lot to be desired. If this is what they use to make a first impression, look out!!!... what does their fleet look like?!?!?! Entering the garage, It seemed like every car was a high mileage junker and in dire need of major body/mechanical work. I've rented many cars in past (US, Mexico and Europe), this is the first time it took me longer than 15 minutes to document the dents and scratches on the exterior, and, dried gum (center console) and stains on the interior. Every inch of the car had a problem (really, I'm not joking). Once on the road the engine groan every time I stepped on the gas (there seemed to be a major problem with the front end). We decided to leave the car parked for our second rental day for safety reasons (it was cheaper to keep it rather than return it early).

I think they buy these cars at auction for peanuts and squeeze every dime they can out of them (the tape from the temporary plate was still on the back window).

-Did we get around town... YES.
-Did we feel safe... NO.
-Will I use them again... NO.

Maybe they should change the name to - rent a wreck...

Oh, and remember to check the fuel level. We received the car with "HALF A TANK" of gas... the rental document stated "FULL", thank god we caught that (they made the adjustment, no problem).

Poor Customer Service/Poor Car
We rented a car and was told it was an "older model". Fine with us because we were parking it in the French Quarter overnight and didn't care if it was an older car. When we went to pick it up they walked us around it and it had many dents and scratches - again, no big deal we were just going site seeing for the day. Once we got on the road we found that it needed a new suspension, the driver side visor was missing, the glove box fell open mid trip and we couldn't get it closed, the driver side windows had an electrical short and wouldn't roll back up. All I asked for was a $20 discount and she was unbeliveably rude. Told us that there was no way she was giving us a discount because it was our fault we agreed to rent an older car. The mechanic told me he knew there was a short in the window but he claimed it was fixed. My problem is this car should not have been a rental to begin with. I honestly can't believe these people stay in business. I would never do business with these people again. Go to Hertz or Avis where they care about their reputation. By the way, I rented it using my American Express Card and THEY gave me the $20 back I asked for and deducted it from the car company!!!
