OMG... Stay away... Far away!!!
Remember two things,
-This is Nifty "NOT" Thrifty (a national car rental company)
-You get what you pay for.
Located a few blocks past the Superdome, Nifty does offer pickup and drop off service (a necessity given their location). I knew we were in trouble when I entered the minivan for pickup. The general cleanliness of the vehicle left a lot to be desired. If this is what they use to make a first impression, look out!!!... what does their fleet look like?!?!?! Entering the garage, It seemed like every car was a high mileage junker and in dire need of major body/mechanical work. I've rented many cars in past (US, Mexico and Europe), this is the first time it took me longer than 15 minutes to document the dents and scratches on the exterior, and, dried gum (center console) and stains on the interior. Every inch of the car had a problem (really, I'm not joking). Once on the road the engine groan every time I stepped on the gas (there seemed to be a major problem with the front end). We decided to leave the car parked for our second rental day for safety reasons (it was cheaper to keep it rather than return it early).
I think they buy these cars at auction for peanuts and squeeze every dime they can out of them (the tape from the temporary plate was still on the back window).
-Did we get around town... YES.
-Did we feel safe... NO.
-Will I use them again... NO.
Maybe they should change the name to - rent a wreck...
Oh, and remember to check the fuel level. We received the car with "HALF A TANK" of gas... the rental document stated "FULL", thank god we caught that (they made the adjustment, no problem).
