solid work, TERRIBLE service!!!
i first went to nick's shoe repair to have a pair of knee-high boots taken in to fit my calf. i read a few positive reviews of his work and felt confident he could do the job after meeting with him. nick promised my boots would be ready in 5 days. when i returned to pick them up he told me he hadn't even started working on them yet. i reminded him i was leaving on a trip and needed them by the end of the week. he told me to come back in 2 days to pick them up and when i did, they still weren't ready. long story short, this happened 2 more times and not once did he call to let me know my boots would not be ready when promised. two weeks later (3 1/2 weeks total) i finally picked them up and the workmanship was flawless. nick told me an employee had recently quit and being understaffed was the reason for the multiple delays. i accepted his explanation and continued to bring in shoes for minor repairs that were completed on time all but once.
fast forward to april of this year...i brought in a very expensive suitcase to nick to have the zipper replaced. he told me it would be expensive to replace but he could have it done in a week. i didn't need it immediately and actually forgot to pick it up until 3 weeks after the promised date.....guess what? he hadn't even STARTED on it yet! he thanked my husband for coming in and "sparking his memory" to follow up on the ordered part---funny, i never realized that was the customer's job! i called him the next day to tell him i'd be picking up the bag and not to start work on it (as if there was any chance of that happening anyway!). he was rude and nonchalant and treated me as if my expectation of timely work, or at the very least communicating w/the customer, was ridiculous. i will never go back despite the fact that he does excellent work. customer service is important too!
