If you can deal with the service, the food is worth it...
Don't get me wrong, the food and the prices are great. Typically you are seated promptly in either the sushi bar or the teppan room. However, I suggest getting a reservation on weekend evenings. The teppan room is a bit tacky and the place is a bit run down. The most irritating part of the experience is the service staff. They don't speak english and often don't understand it either. They come off as curt and a bit brash and usually cannot be found when needed. But like I said, the food is great and you can't beat the prices.

Great Sushi for the price.
1/2 off sushi everyday is the bomb. Dope prices and its a Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese people. Makes sense. Good stuff Koki's teppan is the best in OC but Shogun Sushi is the bomb, Bizness.

LOVE IT! by Valerie B. at InsiderPages
I love the Tepan room and sitting around the stove with a buch of people! If you're there with 12 people or just 2, the experience is great. I love how the cooks have fun with cooking my meal and making volcano's out of sliced onions or flicking a shrimp tail into their hat brims!

The cost is a little pricey, but you get a show too. I love the fillet and scallops and the shrimp appetizer.

The only bad thing is walking out of there smelling like the food you ate. =) ENJOY!

Great Sushi and Teppan Tables
Wonderful Sushi bar ... friendly chefs, traditional and unique sushi rolls and maki ... always excellent. And the value is good - they often have 2 for 1 specials early in the evening. The Sushi bar seats about 20 people, so you can usually get a spot. We started going here because it was close to our house - but soon realized it was also some of the best sushi in South OC.

Then, on a whim, we decided to try the teppan tables (think Benihana). Oh my goodness - what a treat! I used to go to Benihana for the show, and figured the food was just a means to the end. But at Shogun the FOOD is the show! Don't misunderstand - the Teppan chefs are skilled artists and will entertain you ... but the food is truly outstanding! We've had the steak and shrimp, and both were delicious - tender and flavorful. And the accompanying vegetables were terrific (and I'm not a big veggie fan.) The prices are also reasonable for what you get.

Oh, lest I forget, they have a nice variety of sake too. I prefer cold sake, and I've never been disappointed at Shogun.

Enjoy!

Sushi Boat
If you are a sushi lover, you gotta try their sushi boat. The sushi boat is about $50 with about 30+ pieces of sushi. We also order the beef tataki, which is very good. ...
