This school is the best ballet school my daughter has ever attended. The artisitc directors are true professionals who care about thier students and give them the best training possible including schools in NYC. They are warm and open to people who respect their boundaries however they do not cater to anyone. Both directors have different teaching styles which blend together to make a wonderfully rich class experience for the students. This school's performing company, New Paltz Ballet Theatre, does not base casting for their performances poliltically, but truly seeks out which dancer is best for the part even if it means losing business. In the end of the year recital all kids are treated equally and no favortism is ever shown in casting. The students are encouraged by their directors to be polite and friendly to everyone, especially new comers and when my daughter started there she was begging for more classes within 2 weeks. Five stars are not enough for this little jewel box of a shcool located right here in tiny New Paltz. We are blessed to have them.

This is by far the most astounding little ballet school anywhere. "Miss Lisa" and her rapport with the little dancers is amazing. She walks into the room and their eyes glaze over with admiration and respect. I've seen her older students too and they are not only proficient in their abilities to dance ballet but are also sweet and polite. Everything I want my little girl to grow up to be I have found right there at that school.

I switched to this school after 12 years of dancing. The girls were very cliquey and often times downright mean. The teachers had favorites and weren't afraid to show it. They punished people they didn't like by not giving them places in ballets and the end of the year recital. Its a cess pool of eating disorders, bad self esteem, and misery. I would not recommend for anyone who wants their child to be a confident person. I would recommend if your child is looking to be a professional dancer.

After dancing for 10 years, I switched schools and went to New Paltz. However, the main female teacher was critically mean and let you know just how horrible you were. She was teaching for prima ballerinas and nothing else. I felt left out and alone the entire two years I was there. The dancers weren't nice and didn't talk to you unless you were in there group. The main male teacher was hilarious, I loved his class and that was the only class I loved. Only go to this school if you would like to become a professional ballerina and for nothing else.
