BIG fun! by Cheryl S. at InsiderPages
Before you get your prance on down Canal Street on the hunt for beads and hollers, take the Algiers ferry over to Mardi Gras World and get a tour of the behind- the-scenes action. The huge warehouse stores all of the massive floats they use during the parades. You'll get a set of beads and a slice of King's cake. BIG fun!

Family fun by Elizabeth W. at InsiderPages
A great way to show out of towners Mardi Gras! It's so much fun without the vulgarity and crowd of the real deal! You can see how floats are really made.

See Mardi Gras floats by Michael R. at InsiderPages
If you can't make it to Mardi Gras, this is a great place to see the large decorated floats that roll during the famous yearly parades. If you're going, take the Algiers free ferry across the Mississippi - you can catch it at the end of Canal street. Their gift shop is lacking, so don't expect to come back with any great Mardi Gras souvenirs.

Off the beaten path
We lived 3 hours from New Orleans and drove. It was a little hard to find in the warehouse district but the tour boats will bring you right over. It was rather enjoyable. Bring your camera they have a prop room to dress-up and pose. They also do a king cake and explain the tradition. Its one we know include when we celebrate Mardi Gras

floating tour
This is a very interesting place to see the history of the Mardi Gras parades and the floats themselves....how they are made and shipped over. And the floats are not just for MG. Check it out.
