review of Myriad Music School
We came across Myriad Music School by chance in the fall of 2006 and have been enrolled ever since. My older son, at the time almost aged six, initially joined the school?s Music For the Young Child sequence. Over two semesters, he learned the basics in ear training, rhythm, pitch, ensemble playing, note reading, and sightreading. Classroom work and take-home assignments included activities on several instruments, including the glockenspiel and recorder, and not merely on the simpler percussion instruments. My younger son, now almost six, is currently enrolled in the same Young Child sequence that his brother took.
The teaching staff and management of the Myriad Music School have never been anything other than professional. The style of classroom management is warm, friendly, enthusiastic, and, when necessary, firm. The classroom itself is tidy, kid-friendly, and inviting.
The Young Child classes more than adequately prepared my older son for private lessons in guitar, which he has been studying for the last 18 months with a highly talented member of Myriad?s private-lesson staff. Once per semester, private-lesson students receive the opportunity to perform for peers in the classroom, for parents and friends in a group-recital setting, or both.
I?ve been delighted with the school?s abilities to foster musical development and anticipate starting my younger child with private guitar lessons at Myriad after he completes the Young Child curriculum. Our experience at Myriad has been nothing less than rewarding.
