In December of '07 I went into the store to look for xmas gifts. My son has taken drum lessons there for a couple of years. So I'm looking at the gear and this guy asks me if he can help me and I'm saying well, he got the expensive gift already, the Roland electronic drum kit, so I'm just looking for an xmas package

Where did you buy his Roland set?

I answered truthfully Guitar Center to which he replied Thanks for sharing the love!!

I happen to go there, bringing my $8000 Hill Signature in for a high fret. The sales manager was a real ass#@&#. Not being able to fix the problem, the repair guy was away, I asked if I could play some steel string guitars. He said only the cheap ones, the expensive ones get scratched and then customers won't buy them. I said, why do you think I won't buy one? He had a few things to say which I really didn't hear as I was walking out. With an $8000 classical guitar you'd figure that I had the money and I do, to buy anything in the store. But I wasn't either dressed properly and my guitar looks like it has been played, which it has. All I can say is the guy does not really read people, have enough clarity to read all that is before him, a 56 year old guy wearing $200 shoes, trashy jeans and a $150 belt with a solid silver David Dear ranger set, shirt with no buttons as to not scratch a guitar. Fingerstyle so I don't scratch with picks. DON'T GO THERE THEY HAVE BAD ATTITUDE!

Wow I can't believe someone wrote that! Kurt Newman the store manager is probably one of the nicest most respectful people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with in this business. And I deal with alot of people. Anyways, Don't believe what you read folks, He's a class act all the way

***This is a post script regarding the reply to this review as seen above it. Believe me I have better things to do than lie about a man's character. I attest FIRMLY that my experience accounted for in this review is the truth. How dare you suggest I am a liar. It is quite possible that Kurt Newman is not a canal for excrement in every business dealing he has but he certainly was with me.***

This is my second review. The first was removed I believe because it was a little too metaphorically colourful. I shall now change my language a bit yet still convey my experience with these people. KURT NEWMAN was extremely disrespectful to me as a customer and a man. He told his employee Lloyd that he would not do a nut switch on a Dean V 79 that I was prepared to buy. Lloyd told me the following words:
Kurt said he didn't want to do the work on the guitar because it is a pain in the butt. This was after I was told that KURT NEWMAN would work with me and call me at 11:00am the following day. I did not get a call. I did not get eye contact from him even when I came in a few hours later all excited to try and spend my money there. This is not the attitude of a man who wants to remain in business. Also, I overheard the employees mocking the laughter of two customers who left the store after what seemed to be an amiable conversation between them and the salespeople. Bad bad business. Furthermore, they sell their guitars at MSRP. BEWARE!! NO REFUNDS EITHER. WHY GO HERE? The only reason I can think that someone would go here is because they do not have the power to go to Guitar Center in Concord 30 miles away or just down the street to Runzo's Music World (That is a STELLAR BUSINESS!) There are plenty of places all over that have whatever gear you want and they will work with you on the price. Also, you will be treated with dignity and respect and consideration. Hertlein Guitars

I just bought a Fender Aerodyne from them. I got a good price and James (the sales guy) was very knowledgable and patient. I know as a consumer, we like to get non-showroomed owned internet pricing from retailers. But, show rooms = rent per square foot. I try to buy from local owners even if it cost a little more. What would buying a new guitar with out ever being able to pick it up be like? If you want the conveniance of going to a store and touch and hold the merchandice, there is a little charge for that folks.
I bought my Daughters electric guitar from them too. They have my business. I'm not going to sniffle over paying 3 bucks more for strings.
