Mt. Rose is really good if you want to spend a day out in a resort that caters to all levels of skiers. Although they have very limited terrain for the beginner, advanced and intermediate skiers will love the vast terrain on the south side that caters to the alpine skier. Their Chutes, a system of narrow runs in the center of the mountain, offer a thrill for the most advanced skiers.

And, of course, the snow is never bad.

Great ski area, better for skiers then snowboarders. Go when the weather is good, otherwise you can get blown away by the wind. It's best to park on the back side, or Slide Mountain. Prices are better then a lot of resorts in the area, especially during the week, when they have deals, like women's day (thursday I think) and student's day. Great views on some runs on the main side of the mountain. It's easy to find your way around, and the staff will be happy to help with any questions you might have.

Mount Rose has only one flaw, and that flaw affects all the resorts at Lake Tahoe: wind. The snow and skiing/snowboarding is phenomenal, I tend to prefer the east bowl however, less people, better powder, and advanced runs. You can get a season's pass to Mt. Rose for $200--not kidding. Rose is truly a fun place to go and ski for cheap--without sacrificing any of the amenities.
