A simple urban space with an organic kitchen and thoughtful presentation, quiet enough in dining section for conversation and lively bar in back. This is our new neighborhood favorite having just moved to Banker's Hill. The food is awesome, especially the beef, interesting wine and beer selctions, too.

understated design in all aspects.

Modus is a great bar/restaurant to drop by anytime. There is a ton of parking across the street, and downtown is less than a $5 cab ride straight down 4th Ave. The menu has changed a few times, from larger plates to smaller ones. Prices are fair, perhaps on the pricey side, but you can tell the food is of very high quality. I love the bacon wrapped dates and have the server or bartender recommend a wine to pair. The bar tenders (and sometimes guest DJs) kick ass! From their specialty cocktails, to overall atmosphere, its a sexy joint.

Pros: comfortable, quality food, great drinks, chill music, never an issue with
parking

Cons: A little pricey on some items for their portions

Modus has a great atmosphere and ambiance The menu is slightly small but has some real winners. I tried the red snapper which I'd rate an 8.5 on a scale of 1 - 10. I also had the alvacoado and beat salad which was very good but such a tiny portion. The service was a bit slow and not the most friendly. I wasn't completely filled up by my appetiser and main course, luckily a friend didn't finish all of hers so that saved my night. The food is wonderful but just not quite enough for a growing boy like me.

Pros: exquisite flavors, cool decor

Cons: small portions, limited selection
