ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE
Two out of the three children I care for (18 month old and 6 year old) were with me when I realized our battery was dead at 11:10. We called MMH, and the dispatcher said it would be $59 to jump off the car and the mechanic would be there by noon.
I waited until about 12:25 to call. He said the mechanic was stuck on the freeway and he'd be there soon. Not even two minutes later, the actual mobile mechanic called and said he had just gotten the service call and would be there in 35-45 minutes.
I'm worried at this point because the baby has a cold, it's one hour past his bed time, it's hot, and I'm out of snacks and water.
The mechanic shows up at 1:20 (2 hours later), but is extremely nice and jumps off the car in no time. As he is calling his boss to get the authorization # for the card, he tells me his boss told him to NOT jump off the car and tell her (meaning me) that she needs a new battery and we (Mobile Mechanic of Houston) can sell her one. The mechanic said he just couldn't do that, and had me sign the receipt for $59. He also told me that this guy will purposefully wait to make service calls so the clients will become desperate after a long wait time. (I'm guessing that means to have it towed). I was STUNNED, but thankful we could head home.
I am later called by the mechanic saying that his boss is trying to charge an EXTRA $75 for labor. Don't forget I had already signed a receipt.
I am so upset by this notion that I call the dispatcher back. I could hardly get a word in because he continuously interrupted me, however, these three sentences are about all you need to know.
Me: I refuse to pay any more than $59 to jump off a car; especially after it took 2 hours for him to show. I had a sick, hungry, and sleepy baby with me, as well as a 6 year old...
(Interrupts)
Dispatch: That is not my problem. We could have charged you $300 for the tow truck and you wouldn't have had to wait.
We haven't been charged extra so far, but for principle's sake, please don't use this awful company
