I take my 3 cats here by Chiara F. at InsiderPages
I brought my cats to Mission Pet Hospital on the advice of a dear friend who has had elderly cats with special needs.

The staff at the Hospital are very kind (it's obvious they love animals) and very knowledgeable. Even the staff at the counter is very friendly.

Parking on Valencia can be a bit tricky, but they have a lot around the corner that you can use.

First Visit and Followup Visit
I decided to take my shihtzu puppy here even though this was not her regular vet. I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Jones and hope to continue to take my pet to her should I need to. She seemed genuinely concerned about my pet's health and offered great suggestions. Outstanding service at the front desk, receptive and very accommodating. I did not have to wait very long in the waiting room. I called to ask about a type of immunization and the person who answered the phone was very knowledgeable and sweet (and didn't ask me if I took my pet there). Customer Service at its best!

Kind, Caring and Busy
I've been using MPH since 1987 and have never had anything but great care for cats and dogs both current and dearly departed. I just called them on a Saturday, late afternoon (one of their busiest times), to ask a question about guidelines for introducing a new puppy to an established dog, including questions about the immunization status of the older dog. I did have to wait on hold for a few minutes - but not long. Without hesitating the person on the phone looked up our records, asked good questions about how the older dog interacts with other dogs, etc. This was just a small example of the interactions I've had with both staff and doctors at MPH for the past 20 years. Yes, they're busy - probably because they do great work - but they really do care!

Busy, but Caring Practice
I took my cat to Mission Pet Hospital for about four years. The vets always took a lot of time to explain things to me, in terms I could understand well enough to make decisions (I wish my own doctors were that good about explaining what was going on). The first time I brought him in spotted a heart condition in my cat, for which we successfully treated him for several years. Dr. Jennifer Scarlett had to deliver to me the sad news that he had terminal lymphoma, and did a great job of laying out the options, from kitty chemotherapy (which was unlikely to succeed), to more palliative treatment. She obviously cared a lot, and returned several phone calls about the treatment decisions.

I saw that some other reviewers mentioned issues with the receptionists being busy or nonattentive. Busy wouldn't surprise me, but I always found the people behind the desk very conscientious - just occasionally overwhelmed by the many pet owners who definitely gravitate towards this hospital.
