This is a word of caution for current and prospective parents, looking to have or whom do have, their child or children attend
Miles of Learning Child Care.
While I appreciate the positive sentiments shared by some of the reviewers, the troubles generally are where we cannot readily see them.
My experience with Ms. Brenda Miles was quite troubling to say the least. On a very recent occasion (yesterday), when I attempted to speak with Ms. Miles from a mature civil perspective, I was met in an extremely confrontational manner. Rather then taking a civil approach and acting professionally, Ms. Miles opted to raise her voice. I, as a reasonable and responsible individual, in the presence of children, asked Ms. Miles "please do not raise your voice", as my child was in her immediate presence, and other children within ear shot and potentially sight (as the office door towards the entrance was closed, but not the door towards the kitchen and in the direction of the children).
Rather then taking what one would expect of a calmer more civil, mature, and human approach with a lowered voice, Ms. Miles immediately became extremely irate, storming off, fetching my child's belongings from his cubby, while ranting and yelling the entire time ranging from "Raised voice" to "I don't have to put up with this!", all while in the presence of both MY child and YOUR (other) children. Ms. Miles returned to the office by way of the, previously closed, office door closest to the facility entrance/exit yelling at me "Your child is no longer welcome take his stuff", shoving his belongings into my arms, while proceeding to the entrance/exit yelling "I'll even hold the door for you!" (amongst other things), while proceeding to hold the door to the parking lot open... This while my arms are now full, and permitting my child to enter the a parking lot without a hand being held. I consider this act alone, not withstanding her behavior, an absolutely disregard for a child's safety and well being...
In shock I proceeded out the door, which Ms. Miles was holding, while continuing to yell. As I passed her, still in shock and awe of what was transpiring, said "All I asked was for you to not raise your voice", for which Ms. Miles's yelled "I'll yell if I want to" and closed the door! This all leads me to the important question of, how does Ms. Miles conduct herself in the absence of parents if she's capable of behaving in such a manner in the presence of a parent?
Obviously my child will not be returning to Miles of Leaning Child Care, and you may ask what would prompt such a reaction and disregard for the well being of MY and YOUR child? Simply asking for clarification about a $10 ‘late fee’ on the 2nd day of the month, June 2nd, with full payment in hand which was due on the first of the month, June 1st.
Rather then taking the professional position of a friendly reminder on the first, or directing me towards the appropriate documentation or policy regarding a 'late fee'. This was solely communicated by relaying messages through others and 3rd party voicemail earlier on the 2nd. This complete lack of general courtesy, professionalism, concern for the well being of children, and all in all horrific reaction was based upon my seeking clarification.
For obvious and apparent reasons I would never recommend placing the care and well being of your child in the hands of Ms. Miles and Miles of Learning Child Care!
