Average on their best day
They have a small and disorginized store with limited selection and a cashier that will give you anything you ask for with a smile and dismissive tone. Usually busy with something but customers bring what you want to the counter and pay, don't ask for more there.

Prices are premium and service is bargain basement.

The Worst Comic Book Store In Houston
There are many comic book stores scattered throughout Houston. Stores that come to mind include Third Planet, Nan's Games & Comics, Bedrock City Comics, and Midnight Comics. Each Houston-based store has its fair share of positives and negatives. For one, even though Third Planet has a larger selection of comics and memorabilia than any other store, it is the most unorganized. And although Nan's Games & Comics has the biggest selection of board games, it has the highest prices. And although Bedrock City Comics doesn't have that large of a selection, it is the cleanest and most organized.

However, unlike the other shops, Midnight Comics' negatives heavily outweigh its positives. For one, the store has the smallest selection of collectibles and memorabilia of any comic book store in Houston. The store doesn't even stock posters for God's sake! Furthermore, the store is tiny! For some odd reason, the owner of Midnight Comics loves to keep on moving locations. This wouldn't be that bad of a thing if it wasn't for the fact that the owner keeps on moving to a smaller location! Lastly, because the store is constantly moving, there are boxes upon boxes of unopened, unorganized items. Because of this, searching for certain items can become a chore. In my opinion, this store only has a few redeeming factors. For one, this is the only comic book store in Houston that sells Magic: The Gathering singles. However, the store's only real redeeming factor is the fact that the store is open until midnight six days a week! But this alone cannot redeem the store.

So in conclusion, only go to this store if it is past 9 PM! This store should be your last resort. If you must get your geek cravings on, and it cannot wait until the next day, then, and only then, go to Midnight Comics!

Best Comics and Gaming Shop in Houston
Midnight is located at the intersection of Westheimer and Highway 6. The new location is much nicer than the old one: clean, well lit, and centrally located.

The store sells comic books, graphic novels, roleplaying games, board games, "beer & pretzel" games, collectable card games, collectable superhero statuettes and toys, and they can place special orders.

There is a game room available for those who want a place to play. The first Saturday of the month is when the Houston Gamers meet and play board games. There is a Magic the Gathering tournament (draft) every Friday and Saturday night around 8pm. There is a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament every Sunday at 1pm.

You're not going to find a comic and gaming shop with more agreeable hours to fit with your schedule. Monday through Friday they are open from Noon till midnight, Saturdays they are open from 11am till midnight, and Sundays they are open from Noon until 8pm.

They purchase comic books, graphic novels, roleplaying games, board games, collectable toys/statuettes, and collectable card games from the public. All purchases (or trades) must be done at the store and no quotes can be given sight-unseen. You should call for more information.

The store is more than a simple retail outlet. In its almost 15 years of existence (at various locations) it has become a place for old friends to gather and new friends to meet.

A Wonderous Haven of Gaming
Most Gaming stores in Houston do not have an area for you to play anymore. Midnight comics is one of the last of a dying breed. John the proprietor carries a large selection of old and new RPGs and board games on top of his ample comics selection. He has the best selection of games In Southwest Houston bar none. and if he doesn't have it chances are he can get it for you. The new location is very well organized, clean and has an overall friendly atmosphere. There is always something going on at Midnight, whether it's CCG games, Board Games or Pen and Paper RPGs and even though John doesn't carry miniatures anymore you can still find miniature games going for various systems on occasion. I highly recommend stopping by his new location. You can find him at 2505 South Highway 6 Houston TX, 77082 (the current address is outdated) or on the web.
