Way overpriced

My mistake for not getting them to give me an exact price before I OK'd the work. There are many other handymen in our area that can do the job right and not overcharge you. Can you tell I'm a bit upset at them?

Pros: job done correctly

Cons: They charged about twice what it was worth

Dont waste your time

I called this contractor for a bid on some garge repair work. When he arrived he bragged that he was 80 years old (so why would I want to hire an 80 year old contractor and create more risk in my liability. When I went over the job scope he proceeded to tell me what work he did not do, then without any research handed me a qoute for a job that was higher than two other bids received that took the contractor 24 hours to produce
then handed me a bill for $75.00 for a bid.

Stay away from this guy

Find out about the "Trip Fee"

When I called for an estimate to repair a small bathroom window I was told by Mort they had a flat fee of $175. When they were finished repairing my window (which took about 15 minutes) I was presented with a bill for $250! The extra $75 was for a "trip fee" which I certainly was not told about on the phone. It would have influenced my decision NOT to use Meticulous Mort for a simple window repair as I could have paid a little more to have a brand new window put in. Live and learn.

Remember to get it in writing

This is the kind of contractor who continues give contractors a bad name.

We indicated that we had 9 windows which needed repairs all needed new rollers and 2 had bent frames. He verbally quotes us ?$75.00 to repair each window for a total of 675.00?. And shame on us for not getting it in writing. Mort arrived with 2 guys and he drove off to get parts. The guys worked from around 9:30 to 12:30. When they were done and came to collect he showed us an invoice for $975.00 and he indicated that he was charging us $75.00 for EACH repair he made to EACH window not all the repairs to each window. It was calculated $75.00 * 9 to replace each roller + $75.00 * 2 to repair each bent frame + $75.00 * 2 to rotate 2 windows where the rollers were too corroded and they had to make holes on the opposite end for the rollers. All the windows work but the job was sloppy especially for the price. When questioned about the misunderstanding he did take off $75.00 for a total of $900.00. The parts and gas for this job could not have been more the $200.00 giving the 3 them around $233.00 each for 3 hours worth of work.

Pros: Did not take long to get job scheduled or complete work. Spoke clear english.

Cons: Work was sloppy. Over priced work.

Way overcharged

Meticulous Mort arrived with two crew members and himself to fix some sprinkler problems. The two crew members worked diligently while Mort stood around. The problem seems to be fixed, although time will tell for sure, but what angers us is that we were way overcharged for an hour and a half's worth of work. We were charged a $75 travel fee (we are NOT far from their headquarters, and they are usually in our area anyway) and then the work on top of that totalled to a little over $300. That seems unreasonable to us. So we would not recommend this service because of that.
