Do you really want to pay good money for surliness and rude staff ??? The parking (An additional $23.00 obligatory charge kind of slipped in as an add-on which makes it less noticable) is in a grafitti marked, unlighted "rape alley"...Staff parks out front, of course. Walls are paper thin...and do you really want to hear the bed rocking next door quite THAT LOUD?? And dont even think about sleeping past 7:00 am....wooden floors with few rugs in the halls make it impossible. Unless every room in NO is booked, I'd take a pass on this one again.‎

I stayed at the Melrose Mansion as an anniversary gift with my fiance, and I was less than impressed. We reserved the best room and were greeted with unchanged linens, cracking paint in the room, and no complimentary breakfast. The people at the Melrose are extremely friendly and perfectly willing to make suggestions about restaurants and nightlife, but I just feel it is impossible to justify the cost of the room when it seems to be in mild disrepair.
