I took my mom there, who by the way is not very adventurist about food. She actually liked the food. I thought the food was average as I've had Moroccan food before.

It did ,however have a nice ambiance to the place and the staff was delightful. I heard they have belly dancing, unfortunately we went on a Monday night and didn't catch the show.

I love exotic food. Throw in eating with your fingers, middle eastern music and a belly dancer, and you've got yourself a recipe for a memorable, delicious and enjoyable dinner! The restaurant is Marrakesh, located on Pearl Street in La Jolla, California. Walk in and the traditional foreign decor greets you and offers a harbinger of what's to come: Moroccan cuisine, exotic spices and dining intimacy - if you and your guest eat with your fingers I could call that intimate!
They start you off rinsing your hands over a beautiful metal basin that's placed in the center of the table and gently pouring warm water over you hands and fingers. All meals start off with a delicious harira soup; a large salad plate consisting of 3 traditional Moroccan salads : marinated cucumbers and tomatoes, spicy carrots and my favorite, marinated eggplant; and the Bastilla : a cinnamon sugar crusted pie filled with almonds, chicken and eggs. From there you have a choice of meals with entrees varying from couscous to kabobs, from chicken to duck to lamb. There is a vegetarian menu that will delight any vegetarian.
When you're in the mood for something out-of-the-ordinary, if you're tired of the same old fare of pasta, burgers, pizza, burittos, then be adventurous, go to the Marrakesh!

Really nice decor and really great location, shame the food and service didnt compare but great hookah lounge. Would probably go for Hookah only next time then it'd be so worth it.

This is like Mediterranean food and they do it with style. I wanted to try something new and they have me wanting to come back already.

Tons of food, but we went on a Tuesday and the food was bland and the appetizer and desserts were at least a day old. Very nice atmosphere and romantic setting. The prix fix concept is good, but on the pricy side. ...
