When it comes to the nicer restaurants in San Diego, there aren't many that can stand toe-to-toe with Market.

Let's face it -- San Diego is not New York, so if you want culinary excellence there aren't tons of choices, which is why Market is so special.

Epic meals and great service have always been our experience in the 5 years we've been coming here. Could not recommend any restaurant in San Diego higher.

Of course, if you want great you have to pay for it, and a you should expect to pay at least $50 per person + drinks...

This place rocks. I have eaten some of the best meals of my life here - two of the meals I have eaten here fall into my top 10 of all time. It can become a bit "coogly" during track season but still a great overall dining experience. Their produce comes from local Chino Farms and the wait staff is very knowledgeable and on top of making sure you are having a great meal.

P.S. You'll probably want to make a reservation.

The regular dinner menu here is great, but the sushi is off the charts! So fresh and the flavor is out of this world! You must try!

Went in to Market last night for the third time; the first two were mediocre at best, this one was too much...I don't see what all the hype is about Carl Schroeder and Market. His food, though fairly artistic on the plate, has not evolved in years; since before he opened Market even. I went to Arterra several times whe he was running the show over there and I loved it; but I'm tired of it now! All of the elements of his dishes have been exactly the same for so long; it's like a mix and match game...take one piece from one dish, put it on another, then rehash a dish from the previous year, change the protein and change the sauce a little, and BOOM!...the genious of Carl Schroeder.

My food was unbelievably salty, and the entrees took over 25 minutes to get to our table. It was only my wife and I! How hard can it be to put together a piece of fish and a vegetable plate?! I literally had to ask for more bread 3 times...that's all I was eating after our salads were cleared and we sat for 25 minutes in wait! And while I'm on it; the corn muffins are not even close to what they used to be. The dessert menu lacks originality; I saw the same desserts on the Arterra menu 4 years ago.

Overall, I'm very disappointed and concerned with the state of the San Diego culinary scene. If this is the barometer for great food in San Diego, then diners and critics alike need to adjust their bearings. Try Farmhouse Cafe or even go back to Arterra for good food; try Addison for good service.

Just got back from eating at Market Restaurant and I loved every second! I felt welcomed the second we walked in.
Best dinning experience to date and would highly recommend the restaurant.
Our waiter was Richard he was very nice and very accommodatingly to my "gluten free" diet. Thank you!!!
