Great for all ages
This is a great place to get in shape, learn Jiu Jitsu and make new friends. I'm 47 and had some real concerns about training...if I would be able to keep up, worried about injuring myself, etc.
Now I'm in way better shape, I feel great and have learned a ton. It changed my life. Jump in and try it!

Finest MMA in NorCal
The instructors know what they are talking about. They train you and teach you at the same time. This is serious MMA, yet open and very welcoming. If MMA is something you've thought about trying for the first time or is something you are serious about mastering, this is the place to go.

Sets High Standards
As a black belt under Ralph Gracie, Mikyo is a great teacher that maintains an environment where the best is brought out in students. As a long-time endurance athlete, I was looking for a new challenge and found it with Marin MMA. I started with great classes in muay thai/kickboxing taught by Bon Kim and I was hooked. My workouts are split between standup and jiu jitsu with great instruction by Mikyo, Julian, and Sean.

The majority of the advanced students are competitive in jiu jitsu or mma and there is a high standard set at the academy for both conditioning and technique. Despite these high standards, its a great group of people and a friendly atmosphere. I'm also indebted to Mikyo for helping me work around old injuries and keeping the progression going.

Call them and arrange the first lesson. The hardest part is taking the first step and committing to the challenge. If you want the real thing, you will find it at Marin MMA.

Best Martial Arts Class for Kids
My 6-1/2 year old has been training at Marin MMA for 2-1/2 years in the Little Lions class and we can't say enough great things about the Marin MMA class for little kids.

Mikyo, Bon, Julian, and all the other teachers are fantastic working with kids. They care, they know every child by name, they break up the students into belt-color groups during class, giving great focus to each child. At belt ceremonies Mikyo has special words of praise for each individual child; he knows his students and draws attention to the positives in each of them. We've heard about other martial arts studios where the teachers yell at the kid to get their point across -- not at Marin MMA. It's all positive communication here. And, every Little Lions class ends with a game!

This is not a Rec Class -- students are encouraged to come two days a week to both (T/Th 3:30) classes, it is a commitment but we have seen the dedication pay off in our son. He loves the class, and many of his classmates are still in his class 2-1/2 years later -- how many other activities do you see the same interest & commitment in at age 6-1/2?

Pros: Fantastic, skillful teachers who care

Have been to many martial art studios and this is the best
I have been to many martial art studios in my life and Marin MMA has been the best gym that I've trained at. I am a young woman who has been training in Muy Thai for 8 years and Jiu Jitsu on and off for a few years.

Marin MMA has a great friendly feel which makes you feel part of the gyms community. Everyone is very helpful and non-judgmental to new members.

I've trained at gyms where I was expected to spar against a man that was twice my size with vains popping out of his huge arms. At Marin MMA weight classes are taken into consideration if you want to spar. If you do not want to spar it is not a problem.

Basically i really like how you are able to mold your training around your own personal goals.

Marin MMA lets everyone take control of their own training. You are allowed to push yourself as much as you want to. You are not expected to be a hard core UFC fan or wanting to fight in your lifetime. If you are extremely into the sport than there are plenty of people who train there that share your passion.

I started out training at Practical Martial Arts for the first 5 years of my martial art career. It's a good school as well, but not nearly as versatile with accommodating everyone's personal goals and needs. I find Marin MMA to have a closer knit community than Practical Martial Arts as well.

Marin MMA is great. Enough said.
