MWMH Has a Sleep Lab! by Nancy F. at InsiderPages
One of the little known programs for Marcum Wallace Hospital is their very fine sleep lab run by Keith Claypoole and Jennifer Hensley. My doctor sent me to the lab for a sleep study when I had little energy and lots of work. I spent two nights with Jennifer, hooked up to multiple machines and being monitored by infrared cameras and many other monitors. Surprisingly, I did fall asleep soon after being attached to all the sensors. I had a mild case of sleep apnea and was sent home with a CPAP machine and encouragement to lose weight. The experience was good other than getting the paste in my hair out the next morning. Jennifer even had help for that problem. The accommodations are private and comfortable. The staff is very polite, understanding, and gentle. They answer even stupid questions like mine. They also offer a quarterly group session for those dealing with these problems. I really like having a close, professional, smaller facility to do this kind of medical evaluation which is strange - at best. This small hospital also offers wonderful emergency service, specialists who have regular clinics, quick x-ray and lab techs, and physical therapy. The staff is training to gain recognition as a Level IV Trauma Center. The atmosphere is very caring and the technology is better than some much larger facilities. For example, their digital scans from x-rays to MRI can be sent to other hospitals via computer, so the patients do not have to repeat medical tests. This is a great place!
