Worst Bridal Store Experience Ever!
I had the worst experience at Maggi Bridal. I called to make an appointment and the woman at the store acted like she didn't want me to come in. She asked me when my wedding was, to which I responded, "October." Then she replied, "Well, it's December, you don't have to come so early." I was surprised given that brides are always advised to order dresses at least 9 months in advance. I talked my way into an appointment that same day, and the same woman who I spoke with on the phone was in the store alone. It was just the two of us, and she said (I kid you not) "I don't feel like working today." I told her that I was interested in trying on three different Alfred Angelo dresses, and I even had a picture of one of them. She told me that she didn't want me trying on any dresses until I was "sure of the one or two" that I wanted. After shopping in a few other bridal shops around town, I was -- at this point -- wondering if I was on Candid Camera. So, I pulled one gown that I wished to try on and asked this woman if I could use the ladies' room, to which she responded, "We don't have a public bathroom." When she said that, I hung the dress back up and strolled out the door. As much as this frustrated me, I actually feel sorry for this woman. She is the owner of the store, and is from a foreign country, so perhaps her customs are different, although I am clean, well groomed, well spoken, well mannered, and I came through the door with the best intensions of purchasing a bridal gown and sending 11 bridesmaids her way. So, in short, she lost a lot of money by acting so rude. If you're interested in Alfred Angelo gowns, I would try the bridal shop on Hillsborough next to Snoopy's, or the bridal store at the Smithfield outlets. Both were very well stocked and the staff was nice and pleasant. I would stay far from Maggi Bridal unless you're filming a documentary on weird, unfriendly people.
