These folks are great! by Deborah F. at InsiderPages
I love the Mac Shac. I'm a veteran Mac user and computer savvy enough that I rarely need outside technical support, but when I do - I use the Mac Shac. I've gone to the Mac Mechanic in downtown SB, and they're OK, with a swank store and all, but the service isn't as considerate and personal. For example, cleaning my keyboard last week, I broke a one of the white scissor pieces that hold the key cap on. I looked around on the web and found that I could buy a replacement scissor piece for ~$8 on ebay, but I'd have to wait for it to ship to me... and there'd be that uncertainty and pain in the neck if it didn't work. So I called the local stores. Mac Shac was supposed to be closed, so I called Mac Mechanic first. The folks there told me I'd have to buy a whole new keyboard for over $100! I called the Mac Shac, just to hear when they'd be open, and a real person answered, telling me that the technician would be in bright and early the next morning and might have a keyboard lying around he could just give me the piece off of... so I went by there the next day, and he was sooo nice! He gave me a whole keyboard (non-working - out of the trash) to play with and refused to charge me anything!
I'm telling you. The Mac Shac really just wants you to have a good experience with your mac. They're not out to gouge you. They'll charge what they need to stay in business and it's a fair price. If you're like me, and love macs, you'll respect this outfit and give it your business. It's always good to have a few professionals around when you need them.
I'm saving up, and when I splurge on an iPhone, I'm going through them.
