Lucha Libre rules!
I'm a fan of Lucha Libre so its really cool to go to this taco shop and see the wonderfully tacky decor with the strong colors, the TV's featuring those really cheesy old school lucha libre movies. It always brings a smile and some nostalgia to see all of it.

Other than the decor, the food is really good, the service fast and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately I don't go as often as I want since the parking in that area can be a pain with so many popular pubs and restaurants nearby. My suggestion is to go late at night and take your time to eat and enjoy.

Move on.
So my friend suggested we come here after a night of clubbing. I was fortunate enough that I didnt pay for my food but knew I didn't want anything too heavy after a night of drinking. So my friend got me the hot dog. Yes, the hot dog from a taco shop.

Unfortunately, my review is of what I had of my friends and my hot dog... It was salty and overfilled with onions. I guess it was ok. Nothing great. Nothing really stood out to me about this hot dog I had eaten. Props to it being on the grilled side but thats pretty much it. I was tempted just to say, lets go to PB and find one of those stands that serves the bacon wrapped with the mayo and ketchup (even though I despise mayo from time to time).

My friend's tacos looked delicious and from what I remember, semi-affordable. I think we primarily went here just for the theme. So this place is alright, nothing out of the ordinary. TJ styled food here with a wrestler theme.

Awesome Food, slow service
First time I went here I tried to go on my lunch break. Bad idea, one hour lunch became a two hour lunch. Not enough parking for the amount of customers they can seat. Had to park on a side street, bring quarters if you don't want to hike like I did. Granted this place was a small hole in the wall taco shop, then man vs food goes in and does a story on the surfin' california burrito and everybody flocks to try it. I did. The food is highest quality, jumbo shrimp, tender carne asada and slabs of avocado in a moist tortilla. Amazing burrito. I got this as a combo, the rice and beans are subprime. Just stick to the burrito. It's all you need. I did go again during a weekend tth my family to share the awesome food and their was parking, but the wait to order was still a good 10-15 minutes. Well worth the waith but the trun around time on food and ordering could use some hlp. Check out their website at tacosmackdown.com before you go. There is a ron burgandy tv trashacan and a champions booth you can reserve 24 hours in advance. A+ food. C- service.

reserve the special booth 24 hours in advance
if you reserve to sit in the booth you'll really maximize your experience at lucha libre. i went once after seeing man vs food in san diego go there. i went with my family and we pretty much tried everything on the menu. the meat is really good and price is just like any other mexican restaurant. the corn is also really a must try! the california surfin burrito is like a cali burrito with shrimp. i thought it was good. i didnt like the tj style hot dog just because i dont like onions. but if you like onions you'll probably like it. its a really fun environment and great for lunch with fam or friends.
