I've brought my car here several times for part replacements and repairs, and I have always felt completely ripped off. Recently (as in today), I asked Lowcountry VW to take a look at my side view mirror. The mirror itself was broken, with all the other pieces intact except the head needed to remounted. I was told the whole part needed to be replaced costing $660 plus tax. My windshield wiper motor is also worn out and needed to be replaced, which they quoted at $220 for the motor and $255 for labor totaling $475 plus tax. I later went online to look-up the cost of the parts and was shocked to find out that the mirror body and glass only cost $130 and the motor for the windshield wiper $65 (that's almost a 400% markup on that part alone!!!). Does it really take $530 to paint and remount a side view mirror? I think not. I understand that there should be mark-ups on parts and there is a cost for labor, but where do we draw the line?
